More Feeling!
A printable Spring Break Bucket List, fighting dragons, and exciting news for what is next for Feeling!
I’ve been sharing my creative journey publically with you since I started a blog when I was 16 years old. It’s been a 10 year adventure so far!
At the end of 2024, I hit a wall. I felt frustrated (really agitated) that I was still living in a cloud of pain from the events that impacted my work and my identity in 2020 & 2021. I was so ready to move on and it felt like my body wasn’t. I had ideas for new dreams I’d like to try, but I would usually feel defeated before I started because the sting of losing my last dream was still so loud.
It was unlike my natural disposition and disorienting for my energizer bunny personality. If I had design work or a creative project for a client, I could knock it with clarity and efficiency. The minute I’d try to design something for personal projects, I’d end up in the fetal position, emotional, and very confused.
After sharing my frustrations with friends and Connor, it seemed the overwhelming feedback was to be still for a bit. (That is a hard task for me, but I finally relented).
For the first time in 10 years, I took a hiatus to reset and meditate on what would be next.
If you want to hear me talk about it like a friend on Facetime, I break it all down in this video:
I’ll also type out the gist of it here!
I took a break from Substack and slowed down on Instagram. I seriously evaluated and investigated joy. What work depleted it? What work amplified it? My mission was to restore my imagination through rest, discernment, and prayer.
It did not feel peaceful or meditative to figure any of this out. It was more like fighting a dragon. Eventually, clarity started to come forward though!
I realized how much I love writing, designing, and sharing — and how passionately I feel about making work that focuses on gritty joy in an increasingly joyless internet space. I feel fueled and excited about this digital publication on Substack. It’s been so much more engaging, uplifting, and joyful to work on than any other social platform. It is a natural connection back to my childhood hobbies and passions (see the video for a sample of my 3rd-grade publication).
I’ve decided I simply have to invest more creative energy, effort, and love into this space!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Some people have been here SINCE I started that blog in high school and the insanity of that is not lost on me. Thank you, sincerely, to everyone who has stuck around and seen me as a real person, beyond my creative output, and offered encouragement, kind emails, and supported every rendition of my creativity. It means tremendously much to me. So much healing has happened in my heart recently, and I feel anticipatory giddiness for how that will spill out in this space. I am tapping back into the kid who hand-made “Kid’s Weekly News” and diligently became the Journalism editor in high school. The best is yet to come!
XO Jenna
