1. I am collecting a list of hotels with the best interior design! Leaning more colorful, patterned, experiential. Have you ever stayed somewhere that was amazingly designed? Would love your insight!
2. I am preparing an incredible sandwich edit of GOOD sandwich recipes. Please tell me about a favorite sandwich you’ve ever experienced, in vivid detail. Please. It’s for research.
Foxfire Mountain House upstate! More vintage and collected than colorful but excellently designed, staying there is a whole vibe. Also The Line Hotel in DC
1. The Lora Hotel in Stillwater, MN. It is built into a cave system which is unique, but also stunning and definitely a bit of whimsy :)
2. I created a steak sandwich that my boyfriend and I are obsessed with. Fry your steak in a cast iron with lots of butter, garlic and rosemary. Then slice and top with caramelized onions and a tangy spicy sauce (mayo, cayenne, tiny bit of worcestershire, and red wine vinegar). For the bread, ciabatta toasted in the oven. Simple and rich but fabulous.
Hotel: Mason & Fifth in London! They offer furnished long stays, so I lived there for three months as a digital nomad last summer. The interiors were a DREAM, truly.
I absolutely loved reading this, so glad I discovered your Substack a couple of weeks ago! It’s already become one of my favourites.
I'm obsessed with matcha, so I’d love to see more about matcha recipes, or maybe even how to create a little matcha corner in the kitchen. I’m really into the home café idea too. I've totally cut down on buying coffee and matcha outside, especially because the matcha I make at home is actually my favourite now (I’ve perfected it!).
Also, thank you for all the inspiration through your beautiful illustrations. You've motivated me to finally sign up for a digital illustration course at UAL in London this September, something I’ve wanted to explore for ages. Did you study illustration, or are you self-taught through online courses?
One more thing: I used to have a column on my own Substack called Curiosities, and reading your work reminded me how much I miss it. You’ve inspired me to bring it back with a fresh twist. I’ve long been obsessed with activities and practices that help us notice the world more deeply and that’s what Curiosities was always about.
Thank you again for sharing your work. It’s truly inspiring. Huggggg
You are so sweet! Wow! Yes to the matcha guide, absolutely! I’m working on it this week.
Congratulations on your upcoming courses - how fun! I am self-taught on an iPad in my college dorm. Playing is a great way to learn anything - so just go for it in your free time too!
This is so wonderful! I found your Substack a few weeks ago and have been loving learning from you.
I second matcha ideas. Maybe inspiration for a whimsy matcha bar area? I have seen a lot of adorable ones of at home cafes that are espresso inspired. Would love your take on a matcha version of an at home cafe!
And what a whimsical summer it will be! I admire your intention for bringing creativity and whimsy into every day life. For me, I’m hoping to explore fun recipes and develop my skills for photographing food to make it look as good as it tastes!! Thanks for the great read, as always!
Group Project!

Yes!! Let me know how the food photography journey goes - I’m working on that too!
Would love to know what film camera you have - your photos look really cool!
I use the Canon g7x! I add my own grain/coloring to make it filmy :)
Oh that’s awesome, thanks for sharing!!
What is also fun is not only making a summer to do list but rather a bingo! Adds a lot of fun, I promise 💌
Love that idea!
This really brightened everything about this day 🌞 A mini journal just for summer is brilliant… the positioning gives it such a fresh feel
