it was very recently my birthday and my boyfriend had a rug tufting date night at a local art studio! we got to pick out own design and now have have a cute Kirby rug for our apartment ✨
I share my birthday with my mother. Tbh, i have never known how to have a birthday on my own. Overall, I think I had a neutral experience. But nothing amazing I can recall.
As a new mom myself, I want to reframe how I view birthdays. I want my son to feel super special, no matter how big/small.
Loved this! I like covering cooks matchboxes (the big ones) in really beautiful wallpaper samples. Then you can give the matchbox with a candle. And it all looks good on the coffee table!
This is one of my favorite posts. My birthday is coming up and I am always celebrating others. However, last year happened to be the first year I received so much love and the gifts I have finally not had to regift. I suggest adding postable, it’s a website each person can add their information into and it reminds you of birthdays as well. It’s where I store addresses, information, etc. because I always send hand written cards to my friends and family. I have cards, stamps, and now a wax seal ready for any occasion!
My two favorite gifts were both for my wedding! An aunt and uncle gave us a Le Creuset pot and handwritten recipes they’ve loved over the years, sprinkled with a few pictures of them cooking together 😍
And my friend (artist) DREW some of my favorite pictures taken from when we traveled together and framed them!
My cousins and I always give each other small luxuries like Chanel nail polish or some kind of deliciously expensive food that I’d never buy myself but comes in under £25 / £30. It’s such a treat to give and receive those gifts. Falls under “delight” for sure!
Hmmm - not a birthday gift, but I think one of my favorite (recent) gifts I've given was a customized sourdough knife, printed out cookbook, and a lil handwritten note included for a client turned friend who is a sourdough/cooking fanatic!
ALSO, do you have favorite card brands?! Was wondering that while reading. Of course loved this 💌
Wait I just thought of another one that you'd prob love, the most delicious and ARTFUL chocolate I've ever ate/gifted: https://www.bijouxchocolates.com/
K the end - can't wait to read all of these gift ideas!
Love the idea of the scavenger hunt. I used to plan these for friends birthdays all the time in high school (when you had to be creative with money.) Always feels personal and thoughtful. Now it makes complete sense that I produce events. Experiences make the best gifts!
I rarely give and receive gifts. It's something I'm trying to change though. A new friend of mine who is dear to my heart had his birthday last month. I gave him a simple necklace yesterday. Prior to that, he'd randomly remarked during a couple of our conversations that he'd love to start wearing jewellery to complement his outfits and that was what inspired my gift.
oh my god i love you - my sisters birthday is coming up and i’ve had no idea what to do and you’ve just given me such a great idea with the nostalgia party thing !!!
I love this! I’ve always had the feeling that I’m somewhat responsible of creating magic for the people I appreciate, and making others feel seen and appreciated… can’t put a price on that. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas!
Group Project: Share in the comments the best birthday gift you’ve ever GIVEN or received! 🎂⭐️🤝

If you’re on iPhone and you add somebody’s birthday to their contact, it is automatically added to your calendar!
Brilliant!
I love when friends remember my bday. No, it’s not a dealbreaker, but certain ones always do and I appreciate it so much.
Yes — it means so much when they remember without any prompting. Truly a special friend!
